How to Jump Start your Body after Winter!

Water is a fantastic way to stay healthy.

Exemption from March madness

Every winter we battle the climate and reach new heights of boredom from inside activities. And while outside can be fun, let’s face it: it’s often not so comfortable! So we bide our time, dreaming of warmer weather and the freedom of spring!

As we lull away the storms, our bodies tend to dehydrate from our methods of heating. The lack of sunshine can sap our motivation leaving a listlessness that no other season can claim so well. We grow sluggish and when the first hints of spring arrive our minds are so ready but our bodies may not be!

Jump starting your body

I find the simplest way to jump start my body is to feed it pure fuel! And by this I mean pure, all natural, nutrients that are often overlooked because they are so common. Fresh air, water, and sunshine get our bodies moving in the simplest and, at this time of the year, I feel most needed ways.

Prolonged heat exposure dehydrates our body systems, sometimes causing, fatigue, irritability, headache as well as achy joints and poor digestion! All from lack of what? Water! Yup. Each cell in our body consists of roughly 60% water. In other words, water is one of the main ingredients in a healthy body! So increasing something as simple as how much water we drink can greatly change how we feel on a day to day basis.

Get a bottle!

Each spring I get a water bottle. But not just any old water bottle. I choose one that has inspiring colors or graphics. Something that makes me think of movement and outside!

This spring I chose orange and blue.

  • Orange facilitates change in my mind, and
  • Blue reminds me of the movement of the ocean.

Colors can be very inspiring. I suggest finding a bottle you like to hold and look at. If it’s comfortable and enjoyable we are more likely to use it in our everyday routine.

To begin with I insist on 2 20oz bottles a day—more if possible.

Work up to four bottles a day over a two to three week period. I guarantee if you do not regularly drink water this will be an amazing change in the way you feel.

Sun is your friend!

The next best thing for the newly emergent winter body is sunshine! Sunshine ups our level of vitamin D: the feel good vitamin! It helps eliminate toxins in the body, clears the skin of impurities and stimulates good digestion, along with many other benefits.

I grab my bottle and go for a walk or just stand in the rays and absorb the free energy. 15 to 20 min. a day can inspire and change our outlook as well as get our bodies charged for the coming season.

Fresh air: Breath for the body

Finally, lets talk about air, fresh air, for a moment. Each one of us breathes to live, and we know that if we don’t breathe we don’t live.

The air we get can add to our quality of life. It’s a fact. Fresh air improves the heart rate and metabolic rate. As well as soothes the nervous system, improves concentration and aids in getting restorative sleep.

Action steps

Remember these simple steps to stay exempt from the maddess of March and jump into the explosion of spring with renewed life and energy!

  • Hydrate! to give your body energy and alleviate sluggishness.
  • Find something inspiring to bring along.Go for a walk, or stand outside, anything to get 15 to 20 min of ultra beneficial sunlight!
  • Breathe deeply and let the fresh air rejuvenate and revitalize your body, mind, and soul!

These simple steps will help you to maximize your daily potential. And spring into the season with renewed energy!
